Carpet Beetle Treatment Sydney

Those mystery holes in a favourite wool jumper are often not moths at all, they are carpet beetles. The little larvae quietly chew through carpets, clothing and upholstery. We clear them out across Sydney's South West.

Carpet beetles are one of the sneakier household pests, because the adults you occasionally see on a windowsill are not the ones doing the damage. It is their larvae, hidden away under furniture and along carpet edges, that feed on natural fibres and ruin clothing, rugs and soft furnishings before you realise they are there.

Bob Pest Control treats carpet beetles across Bankstown, Liverpool, Fairfield and the wider South West. We target the larvae where they live and feed, and treat the carpets, upholstery and storage areas at risk, so your belongings are protected.

Spot the Culprit

Identification and Damage

Adult carpet beetles are small, rounded beetles, often mottled black, brown and white, and you usually see them near windows as they are drawn to the light. They are mostly harmless themselves. The damage comes from the larvae, small and bristly with a brown, hairy look, which is why they are sometimes called woolly bears.

The larvae feed on natural fibres rich in keratin, such as wool, silk, leather, fur and feathers, along with lint, pet hair and other debris. They leave behind irregular holes and shed their bristly skins as they grow. Because the damage looks similar, carpet beetles are often mistaken for clothes moths.

What They Attack

  • Wool carpets, rugs and underlay
  • Woollen and silk clothing
  • Upholstered furniture and cushions
  • Leather, fur and feather items
  • Lint and pet hair build-up
How We Treat

Our Carpet Beetle Treatment Process

The key is reaching the larvae in their hiding spots, not just dealing with the odd adult on the windowsill.

1

Inspect

We find where the larvae are active, often under furniture and along carpet edges.

2

Vacuum

Thorough vacuuming lifts larvae, eggs, lint and hair that feed the infestation.

3

Treat

A residual treatment goes onto carpets, edges, wardrobes and the harbourage spots.

4

Follow-Up

We check the result and re-treat if a stubborn pocket of larvae remains.

Every Affected Surface

Carpet, Upholstery and Clothing Treatment

Carpet beetles spread across different materials, so we treat each of the at-risk areas in your home.

Carpets & Rugs

We treat carpets, rugs and the edges and under-furniture zones where larvae feed unseen.

Upholstery

Sofas, armchairs and cushions with natural fibres are treated where the larvae shelter.

Clothing & Wardrobes

We treat wardrobes and storage so woollens and silks are protected, and advise on cleaning affected items.

Keeping Them Away
