Roof Void Pest Treatment Sydney
The roof void is out of sight, which is exactly why pests love it. Thumping at night, scratching overhead and a smell coming through the ceiling all point to the same place. We clear it out and keep it cleared.
The roof void is one of the most common places for a pest problem to take hold, and one of the last places a homeowner looks. Because it is dark, warm and rarely disturbed, all sorts of pests treat it as a safe place to shelter, nest and breed, often for months before the noise, smell or mess finally gives them away.
Bob Pest Control handles roof void problems across Bankstown, Liverpool, Fairfield and the wider South West. We do not just knock the pests back, we clean up after them and seal the space, so you are not back on the phone a few weeks later with the same noises overhead.
What Lives in Sydney Roof Voids
Warm, dark and undisturbed, the roof void is prime real estate for a surprising range of pests.
Birds
Nesting in eaves and gaps, with mess and noise.
Insects & Spiders
Spiders, wasps and other insects sheltering in the space.
Our Roof Void Treatment Process
We identify exactly what is up there first, because a possum, a rat and a wasp nest each need a different and lawful approach.
Inspect
We access the void safely and work out what is living in it and how it got in.
Treat
The right method for each pest, from rodent control to insect treatment, or humane exclusion for possums.
Clean
We clear droppings and soiled material and deodorise to remove the lingering smell.
Protect
We seal the entry points so the space does not simply get reoccupied.
Sealing and Exclusion After Treatment
Clearing the void is only worthwhile if nothing can move straight back in. Once the space is empty, we seal the gaps that gave pests access, such as broken or lifted tiles, gaps under the eaves, open vents and spaces around pipes and cabling.
For possums, which are protected, we use humane exclusion rather than removal, letting them leave through a one-way exit before sealing so none are trapped inside. For rodents and birds, we close the entry routes with durable materials and mesh that hold up over time.
This sealing step is what separates a real fix from a temporary one. Plenty of people clear a roof void only to find something new has moved into the same warm, sheltered space within weeks, because the open door was left open. Closing those gaps is the part that makes the result last.
Common Entry Points
- Broken, cracked or lifted roof tiles
- Gaps under the eaves and fascia
- Open or damaged roof vents
- Spaces around pipes and cabling
- Overhanging branches giving easy access
Insulation Damage Assessment
Pests do real damage to a roof void, and insulation takes the brunt of it. Droppings and urine soak in and contaminate it, while possums and rodents flatten, shred and nest in it, which reduces how well it works. We assess the state of your insulation and let you know if sections need replacing. Just as importantly, rodents gnaw on electrical wiring, which is a genuine fire risk, so if we see chewed cabling we will flag it and recommend you have a licensed electrician check it.
